Carroll Cadillac plans to build a 32,000 SF modern and brand-image-compliant Cadillac dealership on the site of the former Bill Heard Chevrolet dealership in Sanford, Florida. The property sits on the west side of the Interstate 4 corridor, just north of State Road 46.
Bill Heard Chevrolet in Sanford was once part of the largest Chevrolet dealer chain in the United States, Bill Heard Enterprises. However, the dealership, along with the entire chain, faced severe financial difficulties during the late 2000s economic downturn. Bill Heard Enterprises declared bankruptcy in 2008 and closed all of its dealerships, including the Sanford location, due to the economic recession, and a sharp decline in demand for large SUV’s and full-size trucks, due to high gas prices. Additionally, the company had an infamous reputation for deceptive and misleading business practices.
Despite being located proximate to the Seminole Towne Center Mall, which was once the primary demand driver in the local area, however, is now mostly vacant, the area has seen significant activity in terms of new construction and redevelopment, including retail, restaurant and multifamily projects. Additionally, the Seminole Towne Center Mall is also poised for a major redevelopment.
Carroll Cadillac will join the neighboring Audi of North Orlando and AutoNation Ford dealerships and is anticipated to be completed by year-end 2025.
